02.WARGAMING

Wargaming refines offensive strategy before execution. It allows the team to simulate likely adversary responses, test strategies, validate attack plans, and assess operational assumptions in a controlled environment. This process enhances preparedness, mitigates risks, and increases the likelihood of mission success.

A key focus during wargaming is identifying Key Terrain–Cyber (KT-C), which are infrastructure or assets that, if controlled or disrupted, offer a significant operational advantage, and Mission Relevant Terrain–Cyber (MRT-C), which are systems directly tied to the target’s mission or business objectives. Mapping and prioritizing these terrains ensures the team focuses on the most valuable targets. Wargaming also evaluates potential security devices, heavily defended areas, detection points, friction points, and escalation paths, allowing the team to anticipate challenges and refine tradecraft.

Insights from TTX and SIM exercises directly inform Resource Development by highlighting which tools, exploits, or scripts are needed for critical targets. They also guide Engagement Planning, revealing likely adversary responses and enabling the team to sequence operations effectively. This creates a continuous feedback loop, where lessons learned from simulation refine both resource allocation and operational execution.
